Three Station Model.

Instructional delivery system - upon enrollment, students are administered an initial English/Language Arts and Mathematics assessments to determine their academic skill level in these subject areas.  Additionally, transcripts from previously attended schools are reviewed by the classroom teacher in order to assign the appropriate courses or the schedule of classes.  The results of the transcript review and initial assessment are used by the classroom teacher to create an individual schedule of classes, and an individualized learning plan (ILP). S.E.A. Charter High School’s student-teacher ratio does not exceed 25 students. The student day is organized into three, 120 minute block periods.  Within each of these periods the students move within the following three stations for a period of 40 minutes each. 

  • Station 1 - The teacher provides small group direct instruction which is content standards-based, and integrates the use of differentiated instruction methods such as SDAIE strategies, scaffolding, and small group discussions to support the student’s needs and achievement of their goals.  Addresses EL & IEP students
  • Station 2 - Students work independently, or in cooperative/collaborative learning groups to complete assignments, or work on a project, or on practice activities that reinforce & support instruction from station 1
  • Station 3 - Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) station provides each student with assistance in areas of academic deficiency as indicated in their Individual Learning Plan.  Course work in this integrated technology program includes computer assisted instruction courses in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and supplemental material via the internet.
  • Classroom Support Services

S.E.A. staffare committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, and work as a team to prevent any harassment, bullying, or violence during the instructional program.  As funds allow,S.E.A. Charter High School provides additional support for the students both inside and outside the classroom.  These support services include:

  • A Support Services Specialist meets with students on a regular basis.  The Support Services Specialist assists students in focusing on realistic career objectives and supervises students in their service learning project(s).  Furthermore, they act as a representative to Probation Officers
  • Instructional Assistants assist the classroom teacher in working with students who need more help in completing assignments, completing required reports, and generally helps in supervising the students.  The Instructional Assistant, with job skill training, provides job skill instruction and computer literacy under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • The Youth-Parent Network workers contact and enroll the parents in weekly sessions that provide guidance to the entire family.  Referrals to other programs are available through the Youth-Parent Network.
  • A Youth Leadership program provides the opportunity for students to give back to their communities.  Students will devise and implement community projects and work with other youth to improve the circumstances for all.
  • A Violence Prevention program is provided at each S.E.A. site.  Through this program students learn to understand their own worth and the worth of others and learn how to solve problems without the use of violence.
  • The Family Services program is designed to reinforce and support the relationship between the parent and student.  The Family Services staff works with the youth, parents, and siblings to develop and implement a plan to improve the environment at home.  A wide variety of services including counseling are available to the families.
  • S.E.A. Charter High School Special Education Services Department includes a Special Education Coordinator, a fulltime school psychologist and a Speech/Language Therapist, five RSP (Resource Specialists Program) teachers who provide student individualized services to 237 students at S.E.A. school sites.
  • Substantial restructuring changes have occurred in teacher credentialing, Special Education, School Administration, S.E.A. Charter High School went from 15% compliance to 85% compliance in relation to No Child Left Behind.
