Programs and Student Participation - Students academic achievement is supported through the students’ participation in after school programs.  The programs are offered a minimum of two hours daily.  Overall, during the 2004-2005 year, the after school activities engaged 18,645 student hours.  This duplicated count indicates students participated, on average, in five different after school activities.

The after school programs are used to maximize student achievement and help meet their academic, social (attitudes and behavior), and health (physical, mental, and emotional) needs.  The academic areas that the after school program focuses on are reading, writing, and algebra.  Individual tutoring, when necessary, is also available.

In addition, a variety of other programs are offered that build skills and enrich student experiences.  The after school program has had a significant impact on attracting and retaining students in the unique learning environment of S.E.A. Charter High School.  The after school enrichment programs include the following:

  • Poetry Writing
  • Creative writing
  • Sports and Fitness
  • Health, including unique physique, gender topics, and STD’s
