The 2005-2006 Single Plan for Student Achievement, revised in November 2005, will serve as the primary plan of actions to be taken by S.E.A. staff, to raise  academic performance of students and improve the school’s educational program.  It integrates the S.E.A. Mission, Vision, and Purpose, with the analysis of educational data, implementation of programmatic goals, and evaluation of specific instructional objectives.

During the 2005-2006 school year, S.E.A. staff has initiated the implementation of departmental and school-wide SMART Goals to enhance the instructional program, and further support the improvement of student achievement.  These goals are research based on an analysis of student achievement data and the input parents, staff, and students.  SMART Goals are:

  • Specific and strategic (specific content and skills linked to standards)
  • Measurable (multiple ways of assessing)
  • Attainable (given the baseline, what can we achieve?)
  • Results-oriented (framed in terms of student achievement)
  • Time-bound (sense of urgency with a deadline)

The SMART Goals focus on the following areas:

  • Reading and Writing across the curriculum
  • English Language Development
  • Mathematics
  • Staff Development

Action Plans for each SMART Goal have been developed by S.E.A. staff and integrated into the 2005-2006 Single Plan for Student Achievement.  Plans include:

  • Specific actions and strategies to be implemented
  • How will the progress be monitored?
  • When will the action begin and end?
  • Who will be responsible?
  • Related expenditures
  • Budget amount and funding source

As part of the S.E.A. Charter High School’s commitment to continuous improvement, the staff will begin the multiyear process of acquiring accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), during the 2005-2006 school year.  This process will involve the reflective and collaborative development of Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLR’s) by staff, parents, students, and community members, an in-depth Self-Study, and Site Visitation by WASC staff.  Training in the WASC process will be provided for staff, including the opportunity to participate in WASC visitations to other schools.  S.E.A. Charter High School Administration staff have attended WASC Visitation of schools

The SPSA also incorporates information from the School Accountability Report Card (SARC), regarding the demographics of student enrollment by grade level and ethnic group.  Please refer Charts (1) and (2) below for S.E.A. demographic data from CBEDS reporting day.
